Defining what it means to be accurately represented

A response may cite a company while confusing its activity, its target or the maturity of its solution. The simple presence of the name is therefore not enough to qualify the result. For a communications department, the first objective should be a fair representation: what the company offers, who it is aimed at, what sets it apart and what it can really demonstrate.

We recommend constituting a limited panel of questions based on requests from journalists, candidates, partners and decision-makers. It may include an identity question, a method question, a comparative question and a sensitive question. The panel must be dated and retain its wording. A measure whose questions change with each campaign does not allow us to precisely understand the observed evolution.

Build pages that explain a skill

Google's guide to generative search features maintains the relevance of SEO fundamentals and emphasizes the usefulness of original content. It does not provide a quote guarantee. This documentation concerns Google's experiments; other services must be observed according to their own behaviors. [1]

For a technology company, an expertise page can explain the problem addressed, the method used, the conditions of use and a publishable result. A series of adjectives like “innovative”, “robust” or “sovereign” do little to help a reader compare solutions. Access must be provided to the elements that make the skill understandable: architectural description when relevant, evaluation protocol, scope of support or limits of a method.

Establish the chain of proof

A public statement must be able to be linked to a document, an expert and a revision date. The document can be a study, product documentation or an authorized case. The expert must be able to explain what the evidence shows and what it does not show. The date prevents old information from continuing to represent an offer that has changed.

Communication can keep a common register with product and technical teams. It is also necessary to distinguish company content from independent analyses. A proprietary publication presents a point of view; a third-party source may discuss or corroborate it. Passing the former off as the latter weakens trust. Media relations work retains its own logic: proposing a relevant and documented subject to an editorial team free to deal with it.

Measure three dimensions separately

We propose to separate presence, accuracy and sources. Presence indicates whether the company appears in the panel responses. Accuracy describes whether the activity and abilities are correctly reproduced. Source analysis identifies the documents actually cited and their relevance. These measures answer different questions and should not be merged into a score presented as universal.

The observations must specify the service, date, language and conditions of consultation. A result may vary between two sessions. It is therefore prudent to repeat the observations in a stable protocol and to retain the responses that justify a conclusion. A progression on a given panel proves neither a general increase in confidence nor a commercial effect. These effects require additional observations.

Example: correct expertise that has become obsolete

Consider a fictional company historically known for a storage solution, but now active in data orchestration. The AI's responses continue to describe his former activity. The first action is not necessarily to publish more. We must examine the pages still accessible, the institutional presentation, the biographies and the external documents which maintain this description.

The company can clarify its evolution, keep historical information in context and publish a reference page on its current activity. It can then produce a signed analysis of a truly mastered orchestration problem. Monitoring should look to see if confusion decreases on the issues concerned. Updates do not guarantee an immediate fix in each engine, but they improve the quality of the available public base.

A starting program for the communications department

Step Useful work Decision expected
Observe Dated Questions and Answers Choose priority errors
Check Inventory of sources and evidence Identify information to correct
Clarify Identity and expertise pages Assign validations and updates
Document Original analyzes and authorized cases Choose the topics to contribute to
Reexamine Same panel, explicit limits Adjust actions based on responses

The program must remain proportionate to the means available. A few solid, well-maintained pages can be more useful than a catalog of articles with repeated statements. The work of experts deserves to be organized: targeted interviews, factual rereading and recognition of their contribution.

GEO thus becomes a discipline for representing the company. It links editorial strategy, media relations and the quality of public information. For Belief System, the central question remains simple: when a third party seeks to understand your expertise, do they find elements precise enough to form an informed judgment?
